With the Dallas Wind Symphony
In Glacier National Park in front of Heaven's Peak
Dr. Peggy Dees enjoys performing with a variety of ensembles and maintains
a private clarinet studio in Redmond, WA.  Having a keen interest in new
music, she commissioned David Maslanka’s
Desert Roads and premiered it
with the Dallas Wind Symphony. As a member and frequent soloist with the
United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. (1992-98), she has performed
concertos at the United States Capitol, Congressional Medal of Honor Society
Convention and the 1997 Florida Music Educators Conference.

In addition to performing, she has also taught at Bemidji State University and
Illinois State University. Teaching and learning styles are of particular interest
to Dr. Dees and her articles highlighting university clarinet professors can be
read in
The Clarinet; journal of the International Clarinet Association.

Currently she performs frequently with the New Sousa Band and with
orchestras throughout the United States.  A graduate of Interlochen Arts
Academy, she holds a Doctor of Music in Clarinet Performance from Florida
State University. Her primary teachers include Frank Kowalsky, Richard
MacDowell, Robert Marcellus, and John Weigand. Dr. Dees is a member of

An avid backpacker, when not practicing Dr. Dees can be found hiking in the
Seattle area, and her favorite place on the planet: Glacier National Park.
